The summer has been quickly passing by with lots of delightful experiences and hard-won progress on a variety of projects. I put the finishing touches (for now) on my memoir manuscript The Hemlock and the Honey: A Year of Discovery, Death, and Carrying On. I am now working on finding an agent or publisher for it. I’ve also been attending open mics and literary events in the area.
I’m in the middle of several academic projects: a paper in honor of theologian Arthur Dewey on the mysticism and social ethics of the Cappadocians and an abstract on Cato the Younger and Clodius Pulcher for a workshop in the middle of August, and ongoing work on my project on the Classics as a tool for liberation in the United States.
I got to visit family and friends and our national parks earlier this summer. The photo above is the Mississippi River at Hannibal, MO, birthplace Samuel Clemens.
